The first official question was posed to me by my niece a few days ago while sitting in a lifeguard chair at Jones Beach. It was simple, to the point, and infinitely complicated to answer. It does however, need to be answered, and it will be. In the meantime, I have decided to replace that question with one that was brought up more recently.

u do look young wuts up with tht ?

What’s up with that? I don’t know. I clearly do look younger than I am. Let’s take this one step at a time, though. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Mostly good, I figure. Keeps me attractive to a younger generation, which is nice, but does disqualify me from the sometimes useful attraction some girls have to older men. I’d still say one point goes to looking young though on that one. When I have children, I’ll have the opportunity to look like a cool, young dad. Another point. Also on the family tip, I’ll appear young and fresh to my wife hopefully distracting her from having cougar-like fantasies towards the dude from Twilight or Chad Michael Murray. Possible point there. So far, three to zero for looking young. A point goes in the negative column for the likelihood that there are women my age who will assume that I’m 19 , be initially attracted to me, but think that based on my young age I’m only useful as a piece of beef. This will lead them to miss out on all the intricate details about me that could only be carved throughout the many years they’ll assume I haven’t lived. A piece of beef I may be, but that’s just a single etching. For now the score stands at 3-1, and I’ll keep it that way. Next step, why do I look so young? Genes for one. My dad’s holding up nicely for his age. Attitude plays a part. I’d say first and foremost, skin care. Nearly a decade spent with a solid skin regimen does wonders. Retin-A Micro for a topical prescription to start. My doctor informs me this is great to handle the Ghosts of Skin Damage Past, Present, and Future. I’m paraphrasing him there. I don’t recall him ripping off Dickens. I actually haven’t used it in a couple of years but thats mainly out of laziness and complacency. I’ll be starting again for sure. Cleansing is crazy important. I used Cetaphil for years. Gentle, no fragrances, great for sensitive skin. Great for damaged skin. As things have improved, I’ve been able to switch to other options. Exfoliation is key as well. Once a week or so, it’s a great idea to do some gentle, but thorough exfoliating with a nice face scrub. Don’t be afraid to drop a few bucks on this product as it will last you a while. I currently use an orange scrub made by Anthony. It smells great and gets the job done. This can be found at your local Sephora. If you don’t know what Sephora is, then women probably don’t think you’re cool. And a moisturizer. Wow this is necessary. Hella necessary. Every morning after you shower. Wash your face in the shower by the way. My moisturizer of choice has been Oil of Olay Sensitive for years now. Recommended by my doctor and has never done me wrong. Not oily, not greasy, just moisture-y. Use one with SPF in the summer. Can’t stress enough, keep your skin hydrated. So that’s basically it off the top of my head. DNA plus skin care. A simple equation that adds up to looking just slightly older than Minkus from Boy Meets World. See you next question.
